Brad Tavares vs Tim Boetsch — Fight recap

Tim Boetsch defeated Brad Tavares by KO/TKO in the second round at 3:18 on August 16, 2014. Despite being significantly outstruck—landing just 14 of 28 significant strikes compared to Tavares' 24 of 56—Boetsch capitalized on his superior accuracy at 50% versus Tavares' 42%, while also securing two knockdowns that proved decisive.

Tavares controlled the cage for 4:19 but failed to convert his lone takedown attempt and couldn't generate sustained offense when it mattered most. Boetsch's aggressive striking in the second round overwhelmed Tavares, who had landed 17 head strikes but lacked the power to keep Boetsch at bay.

The victory demonstrated that volume striking without finishing power can be negated by a fighter willing to take calculated risks and land cleaner, more impactful shots.
