Chad Mendes vs Frankie Edgar — Fight recap

Frankie Edgar knocked out Chad Mendes with a TKO in the first round at 1:28 on December 11, 2015, reasserting his dominance at featherweight. Edgar landed 13 of 32 significant strikes (40%) compared to Mendes' 5 of 17 (29%), and secured one knockdown that proved decisive in the early exchanges.

Mendes struggled to find his range, connecting on just one head strike from 13 attempts while Edgar's precision striking, particularly to the head with 9 of 25 landed, overwhelmed his opponent. Neither fighter attempted takedowns or accumulated meaningful control time, making this a pure striking affair where Edgar's speed and accuracy proved superior.

The loss marked a significant setback for Mendes in his bid to reclaim featherweight contention.
