Cody Gibson vs Johnny Bedford — Fight recap

Cody Gibson defeated Johnny Bedford via KO/TKO in the first round at 0:38 on June 28, 2014. Despite being significantly outlanded in significant strikes—Bedford connected on 7 of 11 (63%) compared to Gibson's 3 of 8 (37%)—Gibson found the opening he needed early.

Gibson registered one knockdown during the explosive exchange, with referee Kerry Hatley stopping the fight before either fighter could establish control or attempt takedowns. Bedford's superior striking accuracy and output proved irrelevant against Gibson's precise, well-timed counter that ended the bout in less than 40 seconds.

The quick finish underscored the unpredictable nature of heavyweight exchanges where a single clean shot can negate statistical advantages.
