Colby Covington vs Warlley Alves — Fight recap

Warlley Alves submitted Colby Covington via submission in the first round at 2:26 of their December 12, 2015 UFC bout. Covington controlled the early exchanges with perfect striking accuracy, landing 2 of 2 significant strikes while securing one takedown and 1:03 of control time.

However, Alves capitalized on an opening to execute a submission attempt that forced Covington to tap, ending the fight decisively before momentum could fully shift. Despite Covington's superior striking efficiency and grappling activity in the brief window he had, Alves' submission prowess proved decisive in a fight that never left the opening frame.

The loss marked a significant setback for Covington's welterweight trajectory at that stage of his career.
