Frankie Edgar vs Yair Rodriguez — Fight recap

Frankie Edgar defeated Yair Rodriguez via TKO due to doctor's stoppage at 5:00 of round two on May 13, 2017. Edgar's striking dominance was evident throughout, landing 72 of 103 significant strikes (69%) while Rodriguez managed only 16 of 42 (38%).

The featherweight veteran controlled the pace with 8:25 of cage control and secured one takedown, dictating the fight from start to finish. Rodriguez, fighting defensively and unable to establish his rhythm, landed minimal offense and absorbed consistent punishment to the head, eventually prompting the ringside physician to halt the contest.

The victory reinforced Edgar's status as a top contender in the division despite his earlier losses, while Rodriguez faced questions about his ability to compete at elite levels.
