Gray Maynard vs Rich Clementi — Fight recap

Gray Maynard earned a unanimous decision over Rich Clementi on October 25, 2008, controlling all three rounds through superior wrestling and cage dominance. Maynard landed 22 significant strikes at 36% accuracy while successfully executing five of seven takedown attempts, accumulating 9:41 of control time compared to Clementi's mere 14 seconds.

The striking disparity proved decisive as well—Clementi managed only seven significant strikes at 16% accuracy, connecting primarily with leg kicks that failed to offset Maynard's relentless grappling pressure. Maynard's takedown prowess and positional control dictated the pace throughout, with Clementi unable to establish any meaningful offense or defensive wrestling.

This victory showcased Maynard's developing wrestling-based approach in the featherweight division, positioning him as a rising contender in a competitive 145-pound landscape.
