Match report
Marcio Barbosa defeated Ryan Kuse by KO/TKO at 2:47 of Round 1, turning aside Kuse’s grappling pressure before finishing the fight on the feet. Kuse tried to impose a striker-versus-grappler dynamic by pursuing five takedowns, but Barbosa denied every attempt and repeatedly brought the action back into striking range.
Barbosa landed 11 of 25 significant strikes for 44% accuracy, more than doubling Kuse’s output of 5 of 21 at 23%. His offense was concentrated upstairs, with eight significant head strikes landed, while three clean body shots added variety and discouraged Kuse from entering freely.
The decisive sequence produced the fight’s only knockdown and allowed Barbosa to secure the stoppage under referee Jason Herzog. Although Barbosa recorded just 12 seconds of control time, his defensive wrestling and sharper shot selection dictated where the exchanges took place and prevented Kuse from establishing sustained cage control.
The first-round finish should move Barbosa toward a tougher divisional matchup.
