Mauricio Rua vs Ovince Saint Preux — Fight recap

Ovince Saint Preux knocked out Mauricio Rua via TKO in the first round at 34 seconds on November 8, 2014, with referee Mario Yamasaki stopping the action. Saint Preux landed nine significant strikes at a 60% clip, including eight to the head, while Rua managed only two significant strikes from three attempts before being overwhelmed.

The fight never developed into a grappling exchange, with neither fighter attempting takedowns and Saint Preux controlling just six seconds of cage time before the finish. Saint Preux's precision striking and head-hunting proved decisive against a compromised Rua, who appeared to be searching his range early.

The decisive victory positioned Saint Preux as a serious contender in the light heavyweight division.
