Eddie Alvarez

Eddie Alvarez, a 5'9" Orthodox lightweight with a professional record of 29-6-0 (1 NC), has built a career as a well-rounded mixed martial artist capable of winning exchanges across multiple dimensions. Over his tenure, Alvarez has averaged 4.32 strikes landed per minute with 41% striking accuracy, while absorbing 4.39 strikes per minute and maintaining a solid 55% striking defense.

His grappling credentials are evident in his 2.92 takedown average per 15 minutes—though his 36% takedown accuracy suggests he relies on volume rather than precision—and an impressive 92% takedown defense that underscores his ability to stay upright. Alvarez has also demonstrated submission prowess, averaging 0.5 submissions per 15 minutes.

Recent fight history reveals mixed results: he suffered a unanimous decision loss to Donald Cerrone in 2014, scored a split-decision victory over Gilbert Melendez in 2015, but then faced elite competition with brutal finishes, including a second-round TKO loss to Conor McGregor in November 2016 and another second-round KO/TKO defeat to Dustin Poirier in July 2018. With a 4-3 record from his last eight fights, Alvarez remains a durable veteran navigating the upper echelon of the lightweight division.
