Matt Schnell

Matt Schnell, fighting out of the United States with a professional record of 17-10-0 (1 NC), is an orthodox-stance flyweight who operates as a submission-first threat with moderate striking volume. Across his career, Schnell lands 4.07 strikes per minute at 40% accuracy while absorbing 4.11 per minute and defending 55% of incoming strikes—metrics reflecting a fighter who trades offense for defense in the pocket.

His submission average of 1.2 per 15 minutes underscores his primary threat, evidenced by his submission wins over Louis Smolka (March 2019, Round 1) and Marco Beltran (October 2017, unanimous decision). However, recent results paint a troubling picture: Schnell has posted a 3-4 record over his last eight fights, including back-to-back submission losses to Brandon Royval (May 2022, 1:14) and Cody Durden (September 2024, Round 2, 0:29), with a knockout loss to Steve Erceg in March 2024.

His takedown defense sits at just 43% while his accuracy stands at 45%, suggesting he struggles with wrestling exchanges. At 34 years old, Schnell faces mounting pressure to reverse his recent skid and remain competitive in a deep flyweight division.
