Luciano Darderi vs Nuno Borges — Match recap

Luciano Darderi defeated Nuno Borges 4–6, 6–3, 7–5 in the second round of the ATP Masters 1000 event in Montreal on hard court, pulling off an upset against the pre-match favourite. Borges entered as the odds-on favourite at 1.53, with Darderi priced at 2.5, yet the Italian recovered from losing the opening set to claim the next two frames in a competitive match. After surrendering the first set, Darderi imposed greater control in the second, breaking serve decisively before edging a tight decider that went to 7–5. The comeback victory represents a significant scalp for Darderi at Masters level and demonstrates improved resilience in high-pressure situations against seeded opposition.
