Beneil Dariush vs Tony Ferguson — Fight recap

Beneil Dariush defeated Tony Ferguson by unanimous decision over three rounds on May 15, 2021, controlling the bout through superior grappling and cage presence. Dariush landed 23 of 55 significant strikes at 41% accuracy while securing three takedowns on six attempts, accumulating 12:15 of control time.

Ferguson managed only 15 significant strikes from 34 attempts at 44% accuracy and failed to land a single takedown, controlling the cage for just five seconds. The Iranian-American's wrestling proved decisive against Ferguson's typically creative striking, as Dariush dictated positioning throughout and prevented his opponent from establishing rhythm.

Both fighters attempted one submission each without success. The victory demonstrated Dariush's evolution as a well-rounded competitor and raised questions about Ferguson's ability to compete at the elite lightweight level following consecutive losses.
