Cory Sandhagen vs Song Yadong — Fight recap

Cory Sandhagen defeated Song Yadong via TKO—doctor's stoppage in round four at the 5:00 mark on September 17, 2022, with Herb Dean officiating. Sandhagen's striking volume proved decisive, landing 94 of 222 significant strikes (42%) while controlling the cage for 3:47, compared to Yadong's 54 of 145 (37%) and 1:39 of control time.

Though Yadong secured both of his takedown attempts, Sandhagen's superior output and precision—particularly 62 head strikes—accumulated damage that ultimately forced the ringside physician to halt the contest. The fight showcased a classic striker-versus-grappler dynamic, with Sandhagen's footwork and volume overwhelming Yadong's limited but efficient offensive exchanges.

The stoppage elevated Sandhagen's position in the bantamweight rankings and set the stage for a potential title contention bout.
