Kamaru Usman defeated Rafael Dos Anjos by unanimous decision over five rounds at UFC Fight Night 147 on November 30, 2018. Usman's wrestling dominance defined the bout, landing 12 of 18 takedowns while controlling the cage for 18:24, compared to Dos Anjos's negligible 21 seconds of control.
The Nigerian striker out-landed his opponent in significant strikes 130 to 62, maintaining a 58 percent accuracy rate and connecting on 95 head strikes. Dos Anjos, fighting primarily from his back, managed two submission attempts but found little success against Usman's positional control.
The decision was unanimous across all three judges, establishing Usman as a rising welterweight contender and signaling a shift in the division's power dynamics.
