Kamaru Usman

Kamaru Usman, "The Nigerian Nightmare," holds a 21-4-0 professional record and competes as a switch-stance welterweight standing 6'0" with a 76-inch reach. Usman is a balanced mixed martial artist who combines steady striking volume with consistent takedown pressure, averaging 4.16 strikes landed per minute with 51% accuracy while maintaining a 2.79 takedown average per 15 minutes at 44% accuracy.

His defensive acumen is his calling card—he absorbs only 2.67 strikes per minute while defending 55% of incoming strikes and an impressive 89% of takedown attempts, making him exceptionally difficult to finish. Over his recent eight-fight stretch, Usman has compiled a 6-2 record marked by notable victories over elite competition including Tyron Woodley via unanimous decision in March 2019, Colby Covington via unanimous decision in November 2021, and Rafael Dos Anjos via unanimous decision in November 2018.

His recent setbacks came against Leon Edwards (majority decision loss, March 2023) and Khamzat Chimaev (majority decision loss, October 2023), signaling a shift in his competitive standing at welterweight. Usman's methodical, control-oriented approach remains effective, though his recent losses suggest he faces an uphill climb to reclaim title contention in the division.
